dark gray powder(s); probably forms when the pentoxide is partially reduced by carbon at 1900°C [KIR83] [CRC10]
Production Methods
Tantalum(II) oxide, TaO, is the only other oxide the existence of which has been confirmed. It can be prepared from Ta2O5 by reduction with carbon at 1,900 °C (3,452 °F) or with H2 at 1,100 °C (2,012 °F).
