Sphinganine-C20-1-phosphate is lethal to saccharomyces cerevisiae cells when accumulated thus may be used to regulate yeast cell growth.

Sphingosine-1 phosphate and sphinganine-1-phosphate are bioactive lipid mediators. Sphinganine-1-phosphate acts opposite to sphingosine-1 phosphate activities. Increased concentration of sphinganine-1-phosphate acts as a potential biomarker for fumonisin exposure and toxicity in mice.
