mono-2-(Methacryloyloxy)ethyl succinate is prepared by the reaction of 2-Hydroxyethyl methacrylate and succinic acid anhydride. The specific synthesis steps are as follows:
10 gm of 2-hydroxyethylmethacrylate, 7.7 gm of succinic anhydride and 50 mg of hydroquinone monomethyl ether were added into a 50m1 flask with a stir bar. The flask was purged with argon, sealed and heated to 90 C with stifling for 18 hours. The flask was cooled to RT to afford mono-2-(Methacryloyloxy)ethyl succinate in quantitative yield.
