In a three-necked flask equipped with a manifold containing 60 nL of toluene solvent, about 0.5 mol of Ryukypropionic acid, .05 mol of 2-ethylhexyl alcohol, and 5 mL of concentrated acid were transferred therein, and the reaction was heated to reflux until no more water came out of the water, evaporating the toluene, and the liquid was washed with 5% sodium carbonate solution, saturated saline, and distilled water, respectively, and dried in vacuo, yielding the colorless and transparent liquid 3-mercaptopropionic acid -2- Ethylhexyl 3-mercaptopropionate.
