Antimony sulfate is a hygroscopic compound in the form of needles with a silken sheen. When antimony or antimony trioxide, trisulfide, or oxychloride is dissolved in hot sulfuric acid, antimony sulfate or antimonyl salts are recovered. Antimony sulfate is used in the manufacture of explosives and in fireworks.
Antimony(III) sulfate may be used as a catalyst for the imino Diels-Alder reaction of Schiff′s bases with N-vinylpyrrolidin-2-one to yield 2-aryl-4-(20 -oxopyrrolidinyl-10 )-1,2,3,4- tetrahydroquinolines.
reagent type: catalyst

See ANTIMONYCOMPOUNDS and SULFATES. When heated todecomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Sb and SOx.
