Prothracarcin is an antibiotic with antitumor activity that exerts its tumor cell toxicity by covalently binding to the C-2 amino group of guanine residues in the minor groove of DNA. Prothracarcin also shows antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacteria and some Gram-negative bacteria such as Escherichia coli[1].
