NONAFLUOROHEXYLTRIMETHOXYSILANE

Non-fluorohexyltrimethoxysilane (NFTOS) is used as a weakly coordinating additive to enhance the compatibility between phosphate-based solvents and sodium metal anodes. NFTOS exhibits super-wetting properties on alkali metal anodes, effectively reducing the contact angle between the electrolyte and the sodium anode (from 49.3° to 38.6°), thereby enabling the electrolyte to better wet and penetrate the electrode surface. By improving wettability, NFTOS helps to form a more uniform and dense inorganic solid electrolyte interphase (SEI) film on the sodium anode surface, which contributes to enhancing the battery's cycling stability and safety^[1].
