Parathyroid hormone-related protein (PTHrP) was originally found as a tumor-derived humoral factor. PTHrP is also known to affect the cardiovascular system as an autocrine and/or paracrine factor; thus PTHrP reduces systemic blood pressure in vivo and causes relaxation of vascular smooth muscles[1].
