Adenosine receptors are potential therapeutic targets for cerebral and cardiac ischaemic diseases, sleep disorders, immune and inflammatory disorders and cancer. N-Cyclohexyl-2''-O-methyladenosine is an inhibitor of adenosine deaminase-induced lipolysis and a selective adenosine A1-R agonist.
Potent and selective A 1 adenosine receptor agonist (K i values are 23, > 10000 and 25000 nM for A 1 , A 2A and A 2B receptors respectively). Causes a sustained fall in blood pressure and heart rate in spontaneous hypertensive rats and inhibits adenosine deaminase-stimulated lipolysis in rat adipocytes (K i = 8 nM).
