Anxiety is a common symptom of various psychiatric disorders, while anxiety disorder is a kind of neurosis characterized by repetitive acute anxiety and accompanied by autonomic dysfunction. When it attacks, the patients mainly show consciously fear, tension, anxiety, palpitations, cold sweats, tremor and sleep disorders. Whether anxiety or anxiety disorder all use anxiolytic drugs for clinic treatment. Many psychosomatic diseases, mental and organic diseases, menopausal syndrome and stress state are also accompanied by anxiety. Anxiolytic drugs are those drugs that selectively eliminate anxiety without significantly affecting other functions of the central nervous system. Commonly-used anxiolytic drugs include the benzodiazepine drugs represented by diazepam and the propylene glycol characterized by methallyl carbamate. Sedative hypnotics, antipsychotics, antidepressants, β-blockers, and the like, also have anti-depressants effects, and the drugs that prevent 5-HT reabsorption have a good anxiolytic effect too.
