Alizarin yellow GG is a useful acid-base indicator commonly used in nutrient media preparation. Studies indicate that removal of the dye is pH dependent and can be withdrawn from aqueous solutions by irradiating the sample with radiation at 355 nm and nano ZnO particles. Alternate studies show that Alizarin yellow GG is directly mutagenic to the Salmonella/microsome system. Furthermore, Alizarin yellow GG can inhibit conjugation transfer of depressive R-factors RI drd and R 64 drd.
