Insulin, human, from yeast, BT-243 is used in cell culture applications. It is employed as a drug to control insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Further, it is used to stimulate growth and proliferation of cultured cells as well as to investigate insulin activity on sensitive cells used in research studies. In addition to this, it serves as a component of serum-free media formulations for most primary cells and cell lines.
