1-Pyrenesulfonic acid sodium salt is an amphiphilic pyrene derivative suitable for incorporation into polymers to contribute the fluorescent properties of pyrene to the material. 1-Pyrenesulfonic acid has been described as a fluorescent dopant in the design of nanostructured conducting polymers. The amphiphilic and fluorescent properties of 1-Pyrenesulfonic acid sodium salt have also been utilized in the fluorescent study of micelle concentration.
