4,6-Dimethoxyindole is an indole compound substituted with two methoxy groups. 4,6-Dimethoxyindole is a potentially useful fragment for the synthesis of more elaborate indole compounds, and the 4,6-Dimethoxyindole structure forms the core for a series of compounds with weak activity against Helicobacter pylori which were synthesized as analogs of isosteric phthalide-based anti-H. pylori compounds.
