Preparation
2.32 mmol of 4-methoxy-2,6-difluorobenzaldehyde was dissolved in 10 mL of benzene, and dry NH3 was bubbled through it (1-3 bubbles/second) for 10 minutes. Pb(OAc)4 5-9 mmol was gradually added, and the NH3 bubble was stopped after the addition was complete. The mixture was stirred for 1-10 hours. Extraction was performed with 50 mL of diethyl ether, filtered, and the filtrate was washed with 10% HCl aqueous solution, then washed 1-3 times with water, and washed with saturated NaCl aqueous solvent until neutral. The solution was dried over anhydrous Na2SO4 to remove the solvent, yielding 0.37 g of 2,6-DIFLUORO-4-METHOXYBENZONITRILE (94% yield).
Application
2,6-Difluoro-p-methoxybenzonitrile can be used as a liquid crystal material, exhibiting low driving voltage, fast response speed, and wide phase transition range as a low-temperature liquid crystal.
