Application
2,3-Dichlorotetrahydrofuran, similar to tetrahydrofuran, is a widely used organic solvent capable of dissolving almost all polymers except polyethylene, polypropylene, and fluoropolymers, and is particularly suitable for polyvinylidene ester, polyvinylidene ester, and styrene-butadiene rubber. In organic synthesis, 2,3-dichlorotetrahydrofuran is frequently used as a solvent. Furthermore, it is used in large quantities as a binder. 2,3-Dichlorotetrahydrofuran is also used in the precision magnetic tape industry. Its polymer, tetramethylene ether glycol, is a raw material for synthesizing polychloronitride elastic fibers and polyurethane elastomers.
Synthesis
2,3-Dichlorotetrahydrofuran was synthesized by using sulfuryl chloride and tetrahydrofuran as raw materials and carbon tetrachloride as solvent. Optimized reaction conditions: tetrahydrofuran 1.4 mol, sulfuryl chloride 1 mol, carbon tetrachloride 50 ml, the reaction was carried out at 65-75 for 1 hour, the yield reached 79.3 G, the purity of the product was analyzed by gas chromatography was 95.6 G, and the chemical structure of the product was confirmed by IR, HNMR and GC-MS.
