Preparation

Battery-grade lithium dihydrogen phosphate was prepared by metathesis reaction of lithium hydroxide monohydrate with industrial grade 1 phosphoric acid (85% by mass).

Description

Lithium dihydrogen phosphate, also known as LDP, is a White crystalline powder with the formula LiH₂PO₄. It is soluble in water. LiH₂PO₄ is usually prepared by a stoichiometric reaction of Li₂СO₃ and 85% orthophosphoric acid^[1]. It is often used as a raw material for the preparation of cathode materials for lithium batteries or as phosphate in chemical reactions.

Lithium Dihydrogen Phosphate is used in preparation method of lithium hydroxide from lithium-containing low-magnesium brine in lithium phosphate manner.

Solubility in water

At 0°C, the solubility of lithium dihydrogen phosphate in water is about 55.8wt % (126.2 g of LiH₂PO₄ /100 g of water)^[1]. At 22°C, the solubility of lithium dihydrogen phosphate corresponds to ~ 153.8 g of LiH₂PO₄/100 g of water. At 25°C, it doesn't dissolve in water^[2].
