Description
Dodecylpyridinium chloride is a cationic surfactant. Micellization characteristics of dodecylpyridinium chloride have been studied. Properties such as molar conductivity, surface tension and surface adsorption parameters has been reported. A non-ionic-cationic mixed system composed of Triton X-100? and dodecylpyridinium chloride respectively was studied for its clouding behavior[1-2].
Chemical Properties
white powder
Uses
1-Dodecylpyridinium Chloride is used in preparation and Fluorescence of Nitrogen-containing amphiphilic organic ion Manganese Halide luminescent material.
Flammability and Explosibility
Not classified
Purification Methods
Purify the chloride by repeated crystallisation from acetone (charcoal); then recrystallise it twice from EtOH [Chu & Thomas J Am Chem Soc 108 6270 1986]. Itis hygroscopic and should be stored with a desiccant. [Beilstein 20 III/IV 2314.]
