General Description
N,N-Dichlorodicarbonamidine (Azochloramid) is a brightyellow crystalline solid with a faint odor of chlorine. It ismostly insoluble in water and organic solvents and is unstableto light or heat. Chloroazodin will explode if heatedabove 155°C. The compound is soluble enough in water tobe used in very dilute solution to disinfect wounds, as packingfor dental caries, and for lavage and irrigation. A glyceryltriacetatesolution is used as a wound dressing. The antisepticaction of chloroazodin is long lasting because of itsextremely slow reaction with water.
