Production Methods
Penfluron was produced through a multi-step assembly typical of early benzoylurea insect growth regulators, beginning with preparation of the substituted benzoyl chloride or isocyanate precursor, which was then coupled with an appropriate urea-forming amine component to build the characteristic benzoylurea framework. Manufacturers tuned reaction conditions to favour clean urea formation, followed by purification to technical-grade material with controlled particle size and impurity levels.
