Chemical Properties
S-Adenosyl-Lmethionine, SAM has a good therapeutic effect on depression and arthritis. It is an important metabolite that is ubiquitous in all biological cells. SAM can participates in the transmethylation reaction, transsulfurization reaction and transaminopropyl reaction of cells, and plays an irreplaceable role in the methylation modification, sulfur group storage and transfer of important intracellular molecules.
Uses
S-(5'-Adenosyl)-L-methionine p-toluenesulfonate salt is used in methyl donors; cofactors in enzyme-catalyzed methylation reactions, including catechol O-methyltransferase (COMT) and DNA methyltransferase (DNMT). Although present in all cells, 85% of all methylation reactions occur in the liver, which also regulates liver function, growth, and damage responses.
Biological Activity
S-Adenosyl-DL-methionine is a derivative of Ademetionine (HY-B0617). Ademetionine is an intermediate metabolite of methionine.
