Uses
Fenazaflor is an acaricide.
Definition
ChEBI: Fenazaflor is a dichlorobenzene.
Production Methods
Fenazaflor is commercially synthesised by esterifying 5,6-dichloro-2-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-benzimidazole-1-carboxylic acid with phenol. The production process begins with the preparation of the benzimidazole core, which is functionalized with dichloro and trifluoromethyl substituents to enhance insecticidal potency. This intermediate is then reacted with phenol or a phenol derivative under acidic or catalytic conditions to form the ester linkage, yielding the active compound.
Mechanism of action
Inhibits oxidative phosphorylation. Contact action.
