(R)-1,2,3,4-Tetrahydro-3-isoquinolinecarboxylic acid methyl ester hydrochloride (CAS# 146074-43-3) is the hydrochloride salt of R)-Methyl 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-3-carboxylate (M342518) which is used in the preparation of 2-arylsulfonylisoquinoline-3-carboxylic and hydroxamic acids and analogs as matrix metalloproteinase inhibitors. It is also used in the preparation of peptides for pharmaceutical use as modulators of melanocortin receptors, and is an intermediate in the preparation of cholecystokinin antagonist peptide analogs.
