Vat Black 29

Chemical Properties

Dark blue powder. Insoluble in water. Dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a dark green color and produces a dark green precipitate when diluted. Date red in alkaline solution of insurance powder, yellowish light brown in acidic solution.

Uses

Vat Black 29 is mainly used for dyeing cotton fibers and printing cotton fabrics. It has excellent leveling properties and moderate affinity. It is also suitable for dyeing silk, viscose fibers, and viscose-cotton blends. Its leveling properties are slightly poor when dyeing vinylon and vinylon-cotton blends. It can also be used for hot-melt dyeing of polyester-cotton fabrics. It is often blended with Vat Blue (BCS), Vat Yellow (GCN), Vat Brown (G), Vat Brown (GG), and Vat Brown (BR) to dye various shades of grey.

Preparation

Dibenzo[def,mno]chrysene-6,12-dione,4,10-dibromo- and N-(4-amino-9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydroanthracen-1-yl)benzamide(2 Moore) condensation.

Synthesis

4,10-Bis-(4'-benzoylaminoanthraquinonyl- 1'-amino)anthanthrone, Indanthren Grey BG, is prepared from 4,10-dibromoanthanthrone and 1-amino- 4-benzoylaminoanthraquinone in naphthalene .

blue light grey to navy blue. Black powder. Insoluble in water. In concentrated sulfuric acid for variegated dark green, dilution after dark green precipitation. Alkaline reduction leuco for bordeaux red; Acid reduction leuco for yellow brown. Mainly used for cotton fabric dyeing, suitable for suspension pad dyeing light gray and polyester/cotton blended fabric two bath process, a few used for cotton direct printing.Also applies to silk, viscose, cotton / viscose, Victoria / cotton blended fabric dyeing, mixed colors good.
