Uses
NB-598 is a potent and competitive inhibitor of squalene epoxidase (SE), and suppresses triglyceride biosynthesis through the farnesol pathway. NB-598 is a click chemistry reagent, it contains an Alkyne group and can undergo copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAc) with molecules containing Azide groups.
Biological Activity
NB-598 is a potent and specific inhibitor of mammalian squalene epoxidase (SQLE) th at suppresses triglyceride biosynthesis through the farnesol pathway. It decreases cholesterol levels in cells. NB-598 exhibit potent cytotoxic effects in subset of f neuroendocrine tumors, such as small cell lung cancers through accumulation of toxic squalene with in sensitive cancer cells.
