General Description
Trypsin crystallized is a proteolyticenzyme crystallized from an extract of the pancreasgland of the ox, Bos taurus. It occurs as a white to yellowish white, odorless, crystalline or amorphous powder, and500,000 USP trypsin units are soluble in 10 mL of water orsaline TS.
Trypsin has been used for several conditions in which itsproteolytic activities relieve certain inflammatory states, liquefytenacious sputum, and so forth. Many side reactions areencountered, however, particularly when it is used parenterally, which mitigate against its use.
