Uses
Gibberellin A4 has been used as a supplement in Murashige and Skoog (MS) media for enhancing plant growth.
Uses
Gibberellin A4 is a plant growth hormone that regulates growth and differentiation of plant cells for elongation, germination and enzyme induction.
Definition
ChEBI: Gibberellin A4 is a C19-gibberellin, initially identified in Gibberella fujikuroi and differing from gibberellin A1 by the substitution of the OH at C-7 (gibbane numbering) by H. It has a role as a plant metabolite. It is a lactone, a gibberellin monocarboxylic acid and a C19-gibberellin. It is a conjugate acid of a gibberellin A4(1-).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Gibberillic acids (GA) are important plant growth hormones that promote plant cell growth and elongation. Gebberillins promote rapid stem and root growth, induce mitotic division and initiate (break dormancy) and increase seed germination rates. The gibberellins are also involved in processes such as gravitropism, tensioning and floral display.
