Synthesis
The general procedure for synthesizing 2,4-dibromofluorobenzene from 2-fluoro-5-bromobenzoic acid is as follows: in Example 6, bromoisocyanurate was used to induce the bromination reaction of aromatic carboxylic acids. This was done as follows: a mixture of 2-fluoro-5-bromobenzoic acid (1 mmol), bromoisocyanuric acid ester, additives and solvent (10 mL) was stirred under fluorescent room light (FL) or warm white 3W LED (LL) irradiation. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture is washed with 1 M aqueous Na2SO3, dried over Na2SO4, filtered through a short pad of neutral alumina, and concentrated under vacuum to give crude 2,4-dibromofluorobenzene. The crude product can be purified by silica gel chromatography as required. The experimental results are detailed in Table 5.
