Production Methods
The industrial synthesis of methyldymron is not described in open literature. However, its production would have followed the standard route used for N substituted phenylureas. Production would begin with preparation of the appropriate substituted aniline derivatives, including N methyl N phenylamine and the 1 methyl 1 phenylethylamine fragment. These amines would then be reacted with phosgene or a safer phosgene substitute to generate the corresponding isocyanate or carbamoyl chloride intermediates, which are subsequently condensed to form the urea linkage characteristic of phenylurea herbicides.
