Uses
2,6-Dichloropyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid is used as pharmaceutical intermediate.
General Description
2,6-Dichloropyrimidine-4-carboxylic acid is a chloropyrimidine compound. Its pyrimidine ring bears two reactive functional groups—chlorine atoms—and a carboxyl group. In the presence of methanol, the chlorine atoms at positions 2 and 6 undergo solvolysis to form hydroxyl groups; hydrolysis in boiling water yields uracil. This substance is highly reactive and can serve as an intermediate in the synthesis of other chloropyrimidines[1].
