General Description
sec-Butyl methyl ether (2-methoxy butane) is an acyclic methyl ether. It is reported to be formed in trace amounts during the thermal decomposition of
meso- and
dl-2,3-dimethylsuccinyl peroxides.
sec-Butyl methyl ether is prepared by the reaction of sodium
sec-butylate and methyl iodide. Its boiling point has been predicted using back-propagation neural network (BP NN).
structure and hydrogen bonding
A chemical structure of a molecule includes the arrangement of atoms and
the chemical bonds that hold the atoms together. The
SEC-BUTYL METHYL ETHER molecule contains a total of 17 bond(s). There are 5 non-H bond(s), 2 rotatable bond(s), and 1 ether(s)
(aliphatic).
