Description
PEG11 is a polymer consisting of 11 ethylene glycol subunits and two terminal hydroxyl groups. The hydroxyl groups can react to further derivatize the compound. The hydrophilic PEG linkers increase the water solubility of the compound under aqueous environments. The water solubility properties of the PEG chain are enhanced with longer chains.
Uses
Decaethylene Glycol can be used as a corrosion inhibitor of aluminum surfaces.
Definition
ChEBI: Decaethylene glycol is a poly(ethylene glycol).
Application
Decaethylene glycol is a PEG-based PROTAC linker that can be used in the synthesis of PROTACs, which contain two different ligands connected by a linker; one is a ligand for an E3 ubiquitin ligase, and the other is for the target protein. PROTACs exploit the intracellular ubiquitin-proteasome system to selectively degrade target proteins.
