Uses
Immethridine is a selective histamine H3 receptor agonist. The histamine H3 receptor is predominantly expressed in the central nervous system and an attractive pharmacological target for neurodegenerative diseases.
Definition
ChEBI: 4-(1H-imidazol-5-ylmethyl)pyridine is a member of pyridines.
Biological Activity
Potent and highly selective histamine H 3 receptor agonist (pEC 50 = 9.74) that displays 300-fold selectivity over the H 4 receptor (pK i values are 9.07 and 6.61 respectively). Does not bind to H 1 or H 2 receptors at concentrations up to 10 μ M.
