The empirical formula of diisotridecyl phthalate (DTDP) is C34H58O4. The structural formula of DTDP varies because the iso-alcohols used in the manufacture contain several isomers. DTDP is insoluble in water, but it is soluble in organic solvents. It has a specific gravity of 0.95.

Uses

Its major use is as a plasticizer.

Production Methods

DTDP is manufactured by the reaction of phthalic anhydride with isotridecanol in the presence of an acid catalyst.
