Description
Diclomezine is a curative and protective fungicide. It has a low aqueous solubility and is volatile. There are significant gaps in reported fate data. It is highly toxic to mammals. Diclomezine moderately toxic to honeybees but is relatively non-toxic to most aquatic organisms and birds.
Chemical Properties
Pure product is white crystal. m.p.250.5~253.5℃, vapor pressure≤1.33×10-5Pa (0~60℃). solubility at 23℃ is methanol 2.0g/L, acetone 3.4g/L, water 0.74mg/L. It is stable in solid state and in conventional organic solvents, and it is stable to light, acid and alkali, without burning, explosion and skin irritation.
Uses
Diclomezin is a fungicide used in pesticide formulations.
Definition
ChEBI: A pyridazinone that is pyridazin-3(2H)-one which is substituted at position 6 by a 3,5-dichloro-4-methylphenyl group. A fugicide, it is used to treat rice sheath blight caused by Rhizoctonia solani.
Production Methods
The industrial production of diclomezine involves the preparation of 3,5-dichloro-4-methylphenyl intermediates, which are then reacted with pyridazin-3(2H)-one under controlled conditions to form the final compound: 6-(3,5-dichloro-4-methylphenyl)pyridazin-3(2H)-one. This synthesis typically includes steps such as halogenation, condensation, and purification to ensure high yield and chemical stability.
Mechanism of action
Curative and protectant activity, works by inhibiting the formation of septum and mycelial growth.
