Uses
1,4-Bis(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)benzene is useful in ligand design for Cu-Catalyzed Coupling Reactions.
Synthesis
Hydroquinone (1 eq), potassium carbonate (2.2 eq), and tetrabutylammonium bromide (0.1 eq) were dissolved in DMF, and 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl bromide (2.2 eq) was added. The mixture was stirred at 80 °C for 12 h. The reaction solution was quenched with water, extracted with ethyl acetate, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and distilled under reduced pressure to give 1,4-Di(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)benzene in approximately 85% yield.
