Biological Activity
Gossypetin is a hexahydroxylated flavonoid found in the flowers and the calyx of Hibiscus, which exhibits numerous pharmacological effects, including antioxidant, antibacterial and anticancer activities. It induces apoptosis and autophagic cell death in prostate cancer cells. Gossypetin is a potent inhibitor of MKK3 and MKK6 protein kinases th at suppresses esophageal cancer growth.
