n-Heptadecane is a linear alkane that forms part of the diesel fuel fraction in petroleum. It can be used as a model compound for Fischer-Tropsch (FT) waxes, and through selective hydrogenation into shorter branched alkanes, it is utilised in the production of high-quality jet fuel^[1].
