概述奎诺二甲基丙烯酸酯是一种水溶性维生素E。水溶性维生素是维持人体正常生命活动不可缺少且需求量较少的一类有机化合物。奎诺二甲基丙烯酸酯可由1,4-二羟基-2，3，5-三甲基苯，福尔马林水溶液和甲基丙烯酸甲酯作为起始物料制备得到。
制备在装有冷凝器的200 mL玻璃容器中，加入16.7 g（59.1 mmol CCM，化学纯度：93.5％）放入如上制得的CCM）中，放入16.7g的甲醇，3.3g（82.5mmol）的NaOH和50g的水，并将混合物在氮气氛下在80℃下进行酯的水解。在搅拌下搅拌一个小时。将反应溶液在与其相同的温度下过滤以除去不溶物，然后在一个小时内滴加到酸性溶液中，该酸性溶液通过将11.7g（85.9mmol）硫酸氢钾溶解在50g水中而得到。保持在80°C。在装有冷凝器的300毫升玻璃容器中。中和处理完成后，停止搅拌时立即析出晶体，使反应混合物静置。将晶体在80℃下过滤，用50mL水洗涤两次，然后在80℃下真空干燥。反应24小时，以得到14.5g（57.9mmol）的6-羟基-2,5,7,8-四甲基苯并-2-羧酸即奎诺二甲基丙烯酸酯（以下称为CCA）（收率：98.3％，化学纯度：99.7％）。

体外研究

Trolox has shown to protect mammalian cells from oxidative damage. Trolox is effective in preventing myocyte necrosis in cell culture studies and in a canine model of two hours of left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) occlusion followed by four hours of reperfusion.
Trolox could prevent oxidative stress-induced apoptosis in thymocytes. Pre- or posttreatment of cells with Trolox reduced H ₂ O ₂ -induced DNA fragmentation to control levels and below. .
Trolox is a hydrophilic analogue of alpha-tocopherol and reported to scavenge peroxyl radicals better than vitamin E in sodium dodecyl sulfate micelles and in liposomes. Trolox prolongs substantially the survival of human ventricular myocytes and hepatocyte against oxyradicals generated with xanthine oxidase plus hypoxanthine, and prevented lysis of red cells exposed to an azo-initiator.
