7-Aminoquinoline Is an aminoquinolines derivative with antiviral activity.

The general procedure for the synthesis of 7-aminoquinoline from 7-nitroquinoline is as follows: a reduction reaction is carried out according to the reaction conditions described in Scheme 14 to convert 7-nitroquinoline to 7-aminoquinoline. The specific operation involves adding a reducing agent (e.g., iron powder or hydrogen/Pd-C) in a suitable solvent and reacting under heating conditions until the reaction is complete. Upon completion of the reaction, the insoluble material is removed by filtration (e.g., reduction with iron powder) or the solvent is removed by distillation (e.g., reduction with hydrogen/Pd-C) to give the crude product. The crude product can be further purified by recrystallization or column chromatography to give pure 7-aminoquinoline.
