Bencyclane, a vasodilator, was introduced in 1970 for the treatment of peripheral and cerebral vascular disorders. In 1991, its use was contraindicated by the German authorities in patients at risk of epilepsy following reports of convulsions in patients under treatment. Bencyclane is widely registered and the World Health Organization is not aware of restrictive action having been taken elsewhere.
