Synthesis
The general procedure for the synthesis of 4,4'-dihydroxydicyclohexane from 4,4'-dihydroxybiphenyl was as follows: in a 300 mL autoclave equipped with a stirring device, 20 g of 4,4'-biphenol, 1 g of Ruanne nickel and 80 g of 2-propanol were added. The hydrogenation reaction was carried out under hydrogen atmosphere at 6 MPa pressure and 150 °C temperature for 2 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, 2-propanol was added to the reaction solution until the crystals were completely dissolved. Subsequently, the catalyst was removed by filtration to obtain a pure reaction product solution. Finally, the solution was processed by concentration and drying to obtain 21.4 g of crude 4,4'-bicyclohexanol (A) with a purity of 96.7%.
