MCPA-dimethylammonium is produced by first manufacturing technical-grade MCPA acid through the standard industrial sequence of para-cresol chlorination followed by carboxylation to form the phenoxyacetic acid. Once purified, the acid is neutralised with dimethylamine in aqueous solution under controlled pH and temperature, forming the highly water-soluble dimethylammonium. The resulting solution is filtered, adjusted to the target active-ingredient concentration and standardised for use.

Selective, systemic with translocation. Synthetic auxin.
