It is a member of benzodioxoles, a furonaphthodioxole and a lignan.

helioxanthin (ach126447) is a novel inhibitor of hbv, hcv and hsv-1 virus with ec50 values of 1 μm, 3 μm and 2 μm, respectively [1].helioxanthin has shown significant antiviral effect on hbv, hcv and hsv-1 virus in vitro with ec50 values of 1 μm, 3 μm and 2 μm, respectively. in a cell culture model, the level of hbv rna, the expression of hbv antigen and its replication were all reduced by helioxanthin. besides, helioxanthin has been exhibited to have a low cytotoxicity on both mt-223 and cem24 cell lines with id50 values of 2.5 μm and 31 μm, respectively [1].
