Uses
Trifluoroacetic acid hydrazide is used in chemical synthesis applications. It is used in the preparation of sitagliptin intermediates, pyridazinone derivatives and fluoronitrocarboxylic acid hydrazides, among other organic compounds.
Synthesis
Step 2 Preparation of trifluoroacetohydrazide: Ethyl trifluoroacetate (14.2 g, 0.10 mol) and hydrazine hydrate (5.54 g, 0.11 mol) were dissolved in ethanol (25 mL), and heated and refluxed for 6 hours. After the reaction was completed, the solvent was removed by distillation under reduced pressure, and the resulting residue was dried under vacuum to obtain trifluoroacetohydrazide (12.3 g, 96% yield), the product was a transparent oil, which was solidified after standing.
