Description
Boldenone undecylenate is a kind of synthetic and injectable anabolic-androgenic steroid. It is a kind of androgen ester that can be used in veterinary medicine, particularly in horse. As a synthetic steroid, it has a similar effect as the natural steroid testosterone. Upon treatment of boldenone undecylenate, horses exhibit improved temperament and appetite, further increasing their weight and strengthening the muscles tissues. However, the effect is generally mild. Similar growth promoting effect of boldenone undecylenate has also been observed in goats and calves. The mechanism of action of boldenone undecylenate is acting as a steroid hormone with androgenic activity, further binding to the androgen receptor to regulate related gene transcription. It should be noted, however, the activity of boldenone is mainly anabolic, with a low androgenic potency.

Uses
Boldenone Undecylenate is an anabolic steroid developed for veterinary use.
Manufacturing Process
To a solution 5 g of L-dehydrotestosterone in 25 ml of benzene was added 3
ml of pyridine and 7.1 ml undecylene chloride. The mixture was heated for 2
heurs at 70°C. After cooling pyridine hydrochloride was filtered off. The filtrat
was purified via chromatography on neutral aluminum oxide. Benzenic eluate
was concentrated to obtain 1-dehydrotestosteron 17-undecylenate (boldenone
undecylenate) as an oil; λmax 243-244 nm.
Brand name
Equipoise [Veterinary] (Fort Dodge
Animal Health).
Therapeutic Function
Anabolic
benefits
With a chemical structure that's nearly identical to testosterone, boldenone can stimulate protein synthesis and the release of erythropoietin in the kidneys. Athletes sometimes use boldenone, which may be sold on the black market, to increase muscle mass and strength.
Mechanism of action
Boldenone
is a steroid hormone which has androgenic activity. Androgens bind to
the androgen receptor, which regulates gene transcription.
Side effects
May include symptoms of masculinization like acne, increased hair growth, voice changes, and increased sexual desire.
Veterinary Drugs and Treatments
Boldenone is labeled for use as adjunctive therapy “. . . as an aid
for treating debilitated
horses when an improvement in weight,
haircoat, or general physical condition is desired” (Package Insert;
Equipoise?—Fort Dodge).
Boldenone may possibly be useful to stimulate appetite in cats.
Dosage
Average dosage of Boldenone Undecylenate is 300-500 mg per week for men and 50-100 mg per week for women. The injection should be administrated at least once every week and the length of a cycle is varies from 7-8 weeks to 10-12 weeks. Side effects are mild and occur in mainly in cases of high dosages. Athletes may experience acne, oily skin, hair loss, diarrhea, hypertension, prolonged blood clotting time, increased libido as well as post-menopausal bleeding, increased sex drive, swelling of the breasts and virilization symptoms in women.
