3-Bromobenzophenone can be prepared by a palladium-catalyzed Suzuki reaction between bromobenzoyl chlorides and boronic acids, serving as a key synthetic intermediate for ketoprofen[1]. It is also obtained from the reaction of 1,3-dibromobenzene with benzoyl chloride[2]. Alternatively, Suzuki coupling of 3-bromobenzoyl chloride with phenylboronic acid affords 3-bromobenzophenone in 64% yield[1].
