Quinaprilat is the active metabolite of Quinapril and a ACE
(angiotensin converting enzyme) inhibitor. This compound prevents the catalyzed conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. Angiotensin II is a potent vasoconstrictor, and by preventing its formation, vasodilation occurs along with increased capillary blood volume.
