What is the use and synthesis of 1,4-Bis(diphenylphosphino)butane?

3,6-Dibromo carbazole is used in organic synthesis. It can be synthesized by the palladium-catalyzed coupling of aryl bromides with 3-chloropropanal. The synthesis involves an asymmetric step and the carbonyl group on the 3,6-dibromocarbazole reacts with anhydrous hydrochloric acid to form hydroxyl groups.
