The primary use of 3,3',4,4'-Benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride is for synthesizing polyimide with primary amines undergoing nucleophilic substitution followed by condensation reactions. This polyimide is used in photocatalytic dye degradation applications such as methylene blue in water. Potentially it can extend its applications to dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) and photocatalytic reactions.
